Content Description

The B.A. Etcheverry Water Reclamation Collection consists of 795 images that document the building of numerous dams and irrigation works (such as the Arkansas Valley Sugar Beet and Irrigation Land Company, the Bear River Canal Company, Elephant Butte Dam, Modesto-Turlock Project, Twin lakes Irrigation Company, Umatilla Project, Truckee-Carson Project, and the Riverside-Corina-Corona Project) in the western half of the United States from 1900 to 1917. Images from both private irrigation companies and the United States Reclamation Service (later renamed the Bureau of Reclamation) are included.

These images are mounted onto acid-free boards. In many cases Etcheverry wrote out information about the image on the verso side. These handwritten notes were photocopied and are located next to the corresponding photographs.
