Overview of the Collection
Historical NoteThe USU Intermountain Herbarium is a research facility within the Department of Biology (Botany). The collections include a wide variety of plant specimens and research focuses on taxonomy of flora in the Intermountain West. The Herbarium began in March 1932. Bassett Maguire was the first curator and the nucleus of the collection initially came from Marcus M. Jones. Arthur H. Holmgren was the second curator of the collection starting in 1943. Content DescriptionThe Utah State University Intermountain Herbarium photograph collection consists of 16 images of Herbarium staff from the 1930s to the 1980s and a series of field photographs of juniper and sagebrush with typed notes taken around 1960. This material was probably removed from USU Archives. The information about the images in folder 2 is quoted directly from the original image. Use of the Collection
