Overview of the Collection
Biographical NoteThe Austin family resided near the Liberty, Idaho area. Content DescriptionThe collection contains an array of items spanning a period from the 1860s into the 1920s. Included are land patent certificates, livestock brand inspections, water records, and Paris, Idaho Co-operative scrip. The two significant items in the collection are the water documents and the Paris Co-operative scrip. The water related papers pertain to the Liberty Town and Ditch Company. Included here are two affidavits that describe the construction of the first canal in 1886. The other items are two pieces of Paris Co-operative scrip. One is for fifty cents and the other is for five cents and both are dated 1886. Currently these are the only known surviving copies of scrip from the Paris Co-operative. Use of the Collection
